Trees of Hope: Sycamore Gap Saplings | OGN Daily

71% Informative
Sycamore Gap tree was planted as a landscape feature on Hadrian ’s Wall 150 years ago .
It became one of the most photographed places in England and the site of countless marriage proposals, birthday celebrations and scatterings of ashes.
Its illegal felling in September last year made headlines across the world, prompting feelings of sorrow, distress and anger.
But from the nightmare, 49 saplings garnered from the historic tree are to be distributed around the country.
The National Trust has announced the recipients of the saplings it has called 'trees of hope'.
