Senate Democrats killed a last-chance effort to block President-elect Donald Trump ’s plan that could threaten federal civil servants with political retribution.

A 2020 Trump executive order, revoked by President Joe Biden , created Schedule F , a federal employment category that would classify certain staffers as “at-will” without the due-process rules designed to protect them from partisan politics unduly infecting the federal service.
