City, southern Alberta farmers encouraged after 2024 was Calgary's wettest year since 2016

Calgary received 494 millimetres of precipitation last year , the most the city has received since 2016 .
In 2020 , Calgary got 477 mm , followed by three drier years of 293 , 335 and 268.9 mm , in 2021 , 2022 and 2023 .
The amount of precipitation in Calgary was welcome given the talk of drought early last year .
City officials are working on numerous water-related projects this year .
Going into the growing season , the situation looks better than it has the past few years .
“Crops were much better than they had been in probably the last four years ,” says farmer.
Southern Alberta does n’t usually get its major snowfalls until spring — and if that’s the case this year , it will be off to a real good start,’ says producer.
