Doug Ford says he needs a new mandate to respond to Donald Trump's tariffs.

Ford has said that he believes that if he’s going to spend tens of billions of dollars dealing with the impact of these tariffs, that he needs to seek approval from voters.

Ford said that if across the board tariffs of 25% are imposed, as many as 500,000 jobs could be lost.

Liberal and NDP leaders have said Ford doesn’t need a new election to respond.
