Kelsey Lahr moved to Asheville , North Carolina , after a series of devastating wildfire seasons and mudslides near her town of Santa Barbara , California .

But last year , Hurricane Helene ploughed through western North Carolina killing over 100 people and decimating Ms Lahr's new hometown of Asheville .
