Chatham-Kent pair are first convicted under new puppy mill legislation

Peter and Aganetha Wiebe are the first in Ontario to be convicted for offences under the new Preventing Unethical Puppy Sales Act.
The act prohibits harmful dog-breeding practices most often associated with puppy mills and the reckless sale of dogs.
The Ontario government introduced legislation in December 2023 , which passed June 6, 2024 .
