GOP Sen. Schmitt says Gabbard will ‘curb the excesses’ of the intelligence community: Full interview

Senator Eric Schmidt of Missouri joins us on Meet the Press .

Schmidt says President Trump has no evidence that diversity programs played a role in the crash.

Schmidt : This idea of emphasizing DEI across the federal government has real ramifications.

He says the one thing people care about is they want to get here to there safely, and Americans just want the best.

Senator Lankford says tariffs are meant to bring Canada and Mexico to the table for the fentanyl that is streaming into our communities.

Lankford : I think the American people are tired of being ripped off. They're tired, tired of seeing their jobs go overseas. But I think this, specifically, Kristen , these tariffs, are.

The trade imbalance and our trade deficit has gone up to 100 plus percent with Canada and up 52% with Mexico .

Schmidt : Is he a traitor? I think she's pretty clear she served this country honorably. And I think it's totally ridiculous to try to smear people who are trying to serve this country.

Schmidt : A lot of the people that are asking this don't like her because she's going to bring reform.
