55% Informative

The P51 is the greatest war bird of World War 2 , the P51 Mustang .

The aircraft was the longest range fighter in the world.

It's with kind permission today from Wilhelm Heinz , the owner of the aircraft that I've got this incredible access to be here and film with it today .

During World War 2 , initially the P51B 's and C's had just 250 cows in each wing, so only four total.

But as the aircraft developed and it was realised that just a little bit more firepower was needed, they managed to squeeze an extra 50 Cal into each wing so that the rate of fire coming out of this, although they weren't cannons, they were still machine guns.

With the P51, you can trim it in all three axes, so pitch roll and in your. pitch roll.

And as long as it was trimmed for that part of the flight for the speed that it was travelling at, it could be completely hands free.

The Spitfire 's tailwheel was free castering because you needed to make a really tight turn, just push the stick forward, unlock the turn forward and then it will turn on a sixpence.
