Finland changes visa rules for seasonal berry pickers
81% Informative
Finnish government introduces legislation to end practice of bringing foreign pickers into the country from abroad on tourist visas.
Until now, foreign workers have entered Finland on a Schengen tourist visa, allowing them to stay in the country for a maximum of three months .
This arrangement left the workers vulnerable to exploitation, and for years the sector was the subject of rumours and investigations into suspected human trafficking.
