Albertans are divided on the future of medical assistance in dying ( MAID ) Alberta launched a public engagement to gather input on legislation and policies around MAID .

The online survey ran from Nov. 18 to Dec. 20 of last year and drew just under 20,000 responses.

Results to five of the survey’s key questions were obtained by Postmedia via a freedom of information request to the provincial justice department.

Similarly, more than 58 per cent of replies disagreed that family members should be able to access health care records relating to MAID for the purposes of challenging MAID decisions. Just under 42 per cent of those respondents said they “strongly disagreed” with the above statement, while 31 per cent expressed agreement. — with files from Tyler Dawson [email protected].
