Order blocking Musk's DOGE from Treasury systems doesn't apply to Bessent, judge says
72% Informative
U.S. District Judge Paul Engelmayer on Saturday temporarily blocked Elon Musk's government cost-cutting effort from accessing the Treasury Department's payment systems.
That ruling sparked outcry from Trump allies - including Musk and Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller - who said it blocked Bessent, who was confirmed by the Senate on January 28 .
The Justice Department then asked the judge to revoke or modify the judge's order.
Judge Jeannette Vargas in Manhattan clarified that it did not apply to other Treasury officials.
