It has produced over 150,000 total civil aircraft, including the Cessna 172 Skyhawk and the Beechcraft Bonanza .
In the early 2000s , Piper Aircraft almost ventured into the business aviation industry, producing the Piper PA-47 PiperJet.
Piper Aircraft attempted to enter the private aviation industry in the early 2000s .
The company intended to develop a single-engine jet aircraft that would compete with the Eclipse 500 and the Cessna Citation Mustang.
The original PiperJet fuselage was designed using the fuselage of the Piper PA-46 series, although it was about four feet longer.
