Starbucks Quietly Phases Out Plastic Cups at 580 Stores. Here's Why.

Last April , the company said it had redesigned its single-use plastic cups to use up to 20 percent less plastic.

A spokesperson said the company’s polypropylene cups are compliant with applicable consumer protection laws and declined to provide additional evidence that the cups are recycled.
