Hector Armando Chavez-Anchondo was convicted in the U.S. in 2017 of attempting to smuggle cocaine into Alberta .
The 39-year-old was arrested by RCMP officers in September 2024 , living at a Surrey house where 23 firearms, cash and a myriad of drugs were found.
He and his wife immigrated to Canada in 2006 and have two children, the youngest of which has serious health issues.
