Judge Rules FOIA Requests for DOGE Must Be Expedited

78% Informative
Judge ruled that the Department of Government Efficiency is subject to FOIA requests.
The ruling is part of an ongoing battle between the watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington ( CREW ) and the Office of Management and Budget .
CREW wanted the FOIA requests filled by March 10 so that Congress could have the information before its budget fight.
DOGE declined to defend itself, saying CREW 's arguments fail for multiple independent reasonsâ but did not seem to articulate what those were.
The court ruled that USDS likely qualifies as an agency for the purposes of FOIA , Cooper said.
He said that getting the documents to Congress before the budget fight wouldnât matter one way or another.
