Stout Cortez: February is the worst month of the calendar's worst month .
He says the calendar should start with the spring solstice, and the winter solstice should be the start of the year .
The first iterations of the modern (Gregorian) Calendar that we use now were unattributable early Roman /late Greek efforts.
Around 700 BC , a Roman emperor named Numa Pompilius reformed the calendar so that the months were shorter (more in phase with the lunar cycle) Some viable references hold that January and February were added to the beginning of the year .
Many think that the month of January is fittingly named for Janus — the god of beginnings, transitions, and (stupidly) doorways.

The Aztec Calendar actually consisted of two calendars in one : a day cycle and a year cycle.
An Aztec year was also 365 days long and phased in with the 260-day cycle every 52 years , for a 52 year “century ” instead of 100 .
