Connecticut Lawmakers Seek Overhaul of Towing Laws

Connecticut legislature is working to overhaul the state's towing laws to protect consumers.
Drivers, landlords and towing industry leaders testified at the state Capitol on Monday during a public hearing.
The bill includes a slew of consumer protections including mandates that tow companies accept debit and credit card payments.
The proposed legislation would still let towers to seek permission to sell a car after 15 days , but not until 30 days have passed.
The bill faces fierce opposition from the towing industry.
Towing & Recovery Professionals of Connecticut president says towers weren’t sufficiently involved in drafting of the bill.
Landlords and property managers also oppose the bill, saying provisions such as the 24-hour warning would be difficult to maintain.
