Trump administration halts funding to Maine universities while Title VI and Title IX violations are investigated

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has paused funding to schools within the University of Maine System (UMS) The pause impacts eight public colleges within UMS .

The pause is temporary in nature while the USDA investigates potential Title VI and Title IX violations.

President Trump warned Maine schools in February that he would cut funding if the state continued to allow trans-identifying males to compete on girls’ and women’s sports teams.
