Schumer says he won't vote against GOP-backed stopgap bill to avert shutdown

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer says he will vote to keep the government open and not shut it down.

A partial government shutdown is set to begin at the end of Friday if a funding bill is not passed in time.

The GOP -led House passed a continuing resolution, which provides funds to various federal agencies and programs through September 30 .
